Valley Line West LRT - Phases 2 and 3 Building Demolition

In 2020 the City of Edmonton kicked off the construction of the Valley Line West, a 14 km light-rail extension from 102 Street downtown to Lewis Farms. With construction planned to start in 2021, demolition of vacant buildings on City-owned properties along the route commenced to make way for future construction and utility relocation.

Hazardous Materials:

Prior to demolition hazardous abatement was necessary on 15 commercial structures and 3 residential buildings.

Environmental Sustainability:

Materials that were suitable for recycling were removed and repurposed prior to demolition. All the concrete from slabs, foundations and site improvements was crushed into concrete aggregate at Visco’s Edmonton recycling yard.
