The abatement scope grew significantly when the concrete material used for roofs in 9 of the large structures was discovered to contain asbestos after work had already started. To ensure the project was completed on a compressed schedule, Visco contracted with an additional abatement contractor that resulted in a workforce in excess of 125 workers concurrently. Visco hauled 4,847 tonnes of asbestos contaminated material to Class II landfills.
The concrete from slabs, foundations and hardscapes was crushed into 51,390 tonnes of concrete aggregate. This represents an 88% diversion rate from landfills.
