Meadow Creek Bridge, Jasper National Park

In 2018, PCL was engaged to replace the existing bridge over Meadow Creek in Jasper National Park. Visco was selected to perform the demolition of the existing bridge. The bridge was sawcut and each girder was lifted and placed on one of our trucks for transportation to Visco’s Edmonton recycling yard.

Environmental Sustainability:

All equipment that was mobilized to the Meadow Creek bridge was thoroughly cleaned prior to inspection by Parks Canada personnel. Visco ensured that demolition activities did not cause turbidity in the water and our demolition plan minimized the impact to the streambed while removing the concrete abutments.

Pipeline Proximity Agreement:

The Transmountain crude oil and refined products pipeline was located within 3m of the concrete abutment of the existing Meadow Creek bridge. Visco engaged a vibration monitoring subcontractor to set up monitors to ensure that Visco’s demolition activities did not approach the vibration limits set by Kinder Morgan. At no time during the demolition did Visco register an exceedance of vibration limits.
