Heidelberg decommissioned the former Inland Cement concrete plant in Leduc, AB. Visco was contracted to demolish the batch plant, conveyor system, adjoining office complex, concrete lined washout pit, an in-ground steel hopper, and concrete box located at the base of the conveyor system. Four material silos were also part of the scope of work, which included dismantling, cutting, and falling them prior to removing them from site.
The structure was pre-cut to ensure that it would fall in the correct location. A boom lift was employed to provide safe upper access to structures. The tin was stripped off the batch plant to expose the steel beams, allowing a top-down demolition. All concrete was recycled.
Visco achieved a 97% diversion rate from landfill for Heidelberg.
